Future of cannabis

Overview

Cannabis has been used in various forms throughout history, primarily due to its cost-effective production and its remarkable benefits for soil health. Despite its numerous advantages, it was eventually banned, largely due to lobbying efforts by chemical companies. I believe that cannabis is a plant with significant potential for the future.

For this event, my goal was to present a comprehensive overview of cannabis, including its historical significance, its current market status, and emerging trends that could benefit local organizations interested in entering this industry.

Given that smoking cannabis is illegal in Poland, I organized this event at a secret location – a rooftop in Warsaw. Attendees received the address only after a verification process, ensuring discretion and safety.

The lecture covered

❋ The historical uses and importance of cannabis across different cultures and time periods

❋ An analysis of the current cannabis market and trends

❋ Potential opportunities for local organizations in this evolving industry

❋ The need for rebranding cannabis in social perception. We discussed moving away from the stereotype of the “couch-locked stoner” towards a more positive, diverse, and inclusive image that highlights the plant’s beneficial properties

Experience part

To make the event more engaging and experiential, I divided the attendees into two groups after the lecture.

They participated in a quiz about interesting cannabis facts. As a lighthearted prize, the winning team was awarded an unusually large joint – 50 cm of pure cannabis.

However, in the spirit of unity that the event fostered, we collectively decided to share this prize. We chose to smoke it together as a symbol of peace and community, eschewing competition for collaboration.

Main reflection

It was a lovely evening, but most importantly successful blend of education, social interaction, and a shared experience that left everyone feeling more informed about cannabis and its potential.
