Cooperation with Biennale Warsaw
- Comprehensive support in minimizing environmental footprint
Overview
Biennale Warszawa, a progressive art event, took an innovative approach in its latest edition by prioritizing environmental issues. As an expert in regenerative development and digital communication, I was invited to contribute to this ambitious initiative.
This project presented a unique developmental challenge, merging the art world with environmental stewardship. It offered me a valuable opportunity to witness the intersection of seemingly disparate fields – technology, art, and ecology – and observe how their convergence creates novel perspectives and solutions.
Main objectives
Consulting on low-emission digital communication
❋ Optimization of the website to minimize resource consumption
❋ Consultations on creating visual materials
Substantive participation in the event
❋ Writing an essay published on the event’s website
❋ Guiding tours of the exhibition
Measuring the event’s energy consumption
❋ Calculating the total carbon footprint
❋ Analysis covered: energy consumption by the website and exhibited works, as well calculations of emissions related to the transport of artworks and guest flights
Presentation of results
❋ Presenting the emissions analysis during the last day of the event
❋ Initiating discussions on strategic decisions and their impact on natural resource consumption for the future editions
Main reflection
The flight of one guest for a 45-minute lecture generated emissions equal to powering all the artworks for the entire duration of the exhibition.
Although the carbon footprint is not a perfect measure, it can serve as an additional argument in decision-making, striving for greater harmony between projects and the natural environment.
