Overview

An educational project for children, combining the principles of the Maker Movement with future urban planning.

Main objectives

Practical education: Introducing children to the world of DIY and basic electronics. Participants learned to create simple electronic circuits, which was the first step in understanding how a modern city “works”.

Collaboration and creativity: Children worked in groups on a shared vision of the city of the future. The results? Space elevators (because who wouldn’t want to live on the Moon?), schools transformed into… prisons (someone must have had bad experiences with math), and plenty of green spaces and social areas.

Democratization of urban planning: The project showed that even the youngest citizens have valuable ideas about how our cities should look. Perhaps it’s time for urban planners to start consulting with them?

Main reflection

The project proved that by combining technical education with creativity and freedom of expression, we can not only teach children practical skills but also inspire them to actively shape their environment.

Who knows, maybe among the participants was a future mayor of a city with an elevator to Mars?

Anecdote

The participants’ enthusiasm was so great that one boy tried to “hack” time by turning the clock back an hour. Apparently, in the city of the future, creative workshops last forever!
