Decoding young minds
- Hackers culture at schools
Overview
I was invited to an educational meeting at a primary school in Warsaw, Poland.
We divided the event into three stages:
❋ Computer Lab tour: IT teacher guided me through their facilities, providing insights into their current curriculum
❋ A guest lecture: we held the main presentation in the gym – because nothing enhances the absorption of technology knowledge quite like the aroma of sweat and rubber mats
❋ Art class activity: we concluded with a collaborative poster-making session, where students created visual summaries of the meeting’s key points
Main reflection
To my surprise, the youth most remembered my stories about hacker culture.
Apparently, I managed to clarify the distinction between crackers (those who illegally breach computer systems) and hackers (the “hooded heroes” who openly share knowledge) and effectively decoding these concepts in their minds.
