Overview

This community workshop aimed to raise awareness about centralized systems and the fragility of tech monopolies. We explored the physicality of digital infrastructure and discussed the possibilities that Web 3.0 brings.

The event was hosted in an experimental art gallery that exclusively uses second-hand items. Nothing in the space was new, emphasizing circularity and alternative approaches to technology.

We also had one non-human participant join us during the workshop

The meeting consisted of three parts:

Educational lecture

Prototyping artifacts of decentralized digital infrastructure

Networking with a hands-on activity: creating brooches from old electronic components to promote creative reuse of electronic waste.

Key Conclusion

The main takeaway from the workshop was that most problems we are facing today with tech monopolies are never solely about technology, but rather about the values of the people who build these systems.
