Future of design

Overview

I had the pleasure of delivering the opening lecture at a conference for digital designers. The title was “The Future of Design,” so participants expected an overview of the latest trends in colors, typefaces, and fonts.

Instead, I focused on designers’ responsibility for the impact of their products on the world.

I emphasized that the future of design lies in awareness of how our actions affect users and the natural environment.

As the conference host, I also faced the challenge of conducting a Q&A session. To avoid a situation where I would be talking to myself, my team and I created an avatar for interaction.

Unfortunately, due to limited time for testing and technical issues with sound on stage, the presentation didn’t go as smoothly as we had planned.

Additionally, I encountered harsh criticism of my style and narrative.

This was my first experience with such intense negative reception. Someone even compared me to a host of a bread festival, though I still don’t understand what’s wrong with that. I like well-baked bread.

Main reflection

This experience was very difficult for me, and the wave of criticism initiated a period of breakdown, which later affected my business and turned out to be the beginning of the end of its operations.

But looking at this from the perspective, after a few years, I am extremely great full for, otherwise I would not be in a place where I am now.
