Overview

At the UNESCO MGIEP TECH conference, I had the opportunity to present how the principles of the Maker Movement can revolutionize education and prepare young generations for future challenges.

In my presentation, I focused on how the practical “do-it-yourself” approach develops key skills such as creative thinking, problem-solving, and adaptation to rapidly changing technologies. I emphasized that these competencies are essential in a world that is becoming increasingly unpredictable and dynamic.

I also shared my own experiences of introducing these innovative methods in Polish schools.

I described both the successes and challenges I encountered, offering a realistic picture of the process of change in education.

The culmination of the presentation was the release of an open curriculum that I developed. This practical guide aimed to inspire and support educators worldwide in implementing Maker Movement principles in their own educational environments.

My presentation was intended not only to inspire but also to provide concrete tools for action.

Main reflection

If we want to prepare children for the future, we must first prepare adults for the present.

And that might be the most challenging DIY project of all.
